Top Vacation Destinations for Active Adults

Once you settle into a work-free lifestyle, it doesn’t mean vacation time has to end. Vacations are still a great way to unwind from the daily hustle and bustle – and offer a much needed change of scenery. But when you’re not exactly looking to hit Cancun during Spring break – what vacation destination is best for you?

Cruises

Many active adults choose to cruise on vacation.  Cruise ships leave from many coastal ports throughout the world, and offer vacationers the ability to see a variety of locations in a few days, or a few weeks. Typical cruises last seven days, but there are also shorter and longer durations available.  Cruises typically include all meals as well as sleeping arrangements. There are also additional packages you can add on to include beverages, as well as land-based excursions such as tours and activities. One downfall to cruising is they can tend to be a bit pricey, especially if you enjoy a cocktail (or three) daily during your trip.

All Inclusive

Much like a cruise, all inclusive vacations are great options many active adults can enjoy.  As the name implies, everything is included – meals, hotel accommodations and in most cases, beverages. All inclusive resorts are located throughout the world and there are many types to choose from. For example, as an active adult, you could choose to go to a 55 plus resort, a family resort or a resort only for singles or couples. Unlike a cruise, most all inclusive vacations are a one-stop destination, however, some offer the ability to hop from one resort to another so you aren’t sitting still the entire trip.

“Stay”cation

While getting away to warmer weather might seem like a fantastic idea in the dead of winter, don’t overlook the local wonders in our very own back yard. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, Western Massachusetts and all of the New England states are fantastic places to visit and each contain so much exciting history. If you’re looking to avoid the stress which can come with airline travel, a staycation may be just what you need.

Not sure how to plan your next vacation?  The internet contains a ton (almost too much) information for you to review.  Once you have an idea in mind, visit a professional travel agent or your local AAA location to help put your plans in place. Then, don’t forget to pack your toothbrush, let your mind relax and enjoy your well-deserved vacation.
